Single Track Dreams at Nordic Heritage

October 29, 2006

Nordic Heritage Center is known for fantastic skiing.  The trails, lodge and range are all world class but the single track is a dream.  There is nothing like this in a days drive from Maine.  For a little over 11 miles, these IMBA designed and built trails snake, flow and climb through different forest types around Nordic Heritage.  They create such a fantastic experience that hours seem like seconds on bike or foot and it is one of the greatest parts of athletic life in Presque Isle.

Bjorn Bakken on the North PeakHiking is such a fantastic part of any season, but the fall often yields the greatest surprises.  The things found, experienced or learned as you run in the woods of the Northeast after the leaves have fallen are often startling.  On what was scheduled to be a recovery run became a show of nature as we were able to look DOWN on a hundredish Canada geese as the started their journey south.
